VETS IN THE COMMUNITY OF BEARLAND

VETS IN THE COMMUNITY OF BEARLAND.

August 23, 2013, AT WAR COLUMN, NEW YORK TIMES, By Nathan S. Webster Remembering Iraq on an Indian Reservation.

This is the story of Native American Lance Matorrek, twenty-five years old, who did his tours of duty in Iraq, then returned to Montana.  For me this story implies the notion that all human beings have so many more similarities than divisions that emerge out of own ignorance and bias.  All humans bleed, we all breathe, we feel similar emotions, we have the ability to embrace transcendent values and beliefs, we need safety and security, a decent and fair place we call home, the need for free expression of our personal opinions, our political leanings, and our faith traditions.  In summary, we all have innate Human Rights that we are born with.  And we have the right to protect ourselves from oppression, in whatever form it takes; so check this article out!
